American Idol Sucks... in a Good Way

Why is it that so many people, who OBVIOUSLY can't sing, audition for American Idol? And why are they so gobsmacked when they don't get a golden ticket?
Who told them they had talent anyway?
I felt very sorry for Michael Nicewonder but he was my favourite worst...

I couldn't find the pic of Jared Wiley who, "climbed the frothy mountains" but he got top billing also.
I die of embarrassment on their behalf when they beg to be humiliated on worldwide tv, but this is a huge part of the entertainment factor for me. And let's face it, if the show didn't have the weirdos and crazies, I probably wouldn't watch it.
And is it just me, or does Danny Gokey look ALOT like Robert Downey Junior, without the drug addiction?

I only disagreed with Simon (hereafter to be known as "Simey") about two people. The bikini girl (vomit) shouldn't have made it and the Banana Guy should. He was GREAT.

It's KILLING me that I don't have a tv right now!!! I watched Tuesday night, but I can't justifiably go to my SIL's three nights a week to watch lame-o's who think they can sing.

Agreed. And thank you for not posting a picture of the bikini girl. She made fire come out of my eyes. I hope she falls off stage and gets a painful wedgie at Hollywood week.

Do you think they really don't know they can't sing, or do you thing that they hope to be the next William Hung?
I love this post! My hubbs and I are addicted to American Idol and we got started by watching the auditions JUST to see the bad singers! Now we HAVE to watch it EVERY season!
You just KNOW that when a singer says "People tell me I sound just like Mariah, Whitney, Aretha, etc.," you know they are gonna be BAD!
I could go on and on... I just love this show! *sniff*

I have a music degree, and have been both a participant and judge in all sorts of vocal auditions and competitions. I can't bring myself to watch American Idol until the LAST EPISODE; all the rest of it gives me PTSD.
I don't watch it but you kinda make me want to. And both those photos are not Robert Downey Jr.? That guy is a ringer.
Definitely looks like Robert Downey, Jr. We kept saying that too. And Michael Nicewonder...I missed something because someone was talking. What was up with the medal?
Oooo, you are very observant!! I will keep following your keen eye. I liked how that one guy was saying he was classicaly trained but he took a break and this was his big chance!
That's what I don't get. How is the name of all that is musical did they ever get chosen to audition to get chosen. Don't get it.
The first weeks when they are doing auditions is the best part of American Idol :) We don't get Fox so I have to wait a week so I can watch online :( It is sad :(
